To sensitize the students of VVA and inculcate in them the values of empathy and compassion, i.e. –the capacity to feel what it is to live in somebody else’s skin and feel their pain. On 16th February 2019 Vidya Vikas Academy organized a visit to the St. Joseph Home for the aged at Quepem.

The students of classes 1 to 10 contributed generously in cash which was used to purchase some basic necessities for the inmates of the home.

The sister in charge at the aged home explained in details about the background of the home and how some of the inmates were abandoned old people from railway stations, bus stops, market places etc. Many are even dropped off at the home by their own kith and kin.

The students of class 8 sang English, Konkani and Hindi songs for the inmates. Then along with the sister, the senior citizens also sang a song. It was really a poignant experience for all the students to interact with its inmates.
