VVA Students Make Us Proud

A quiz competition was conducted by Bits Pilani, Vasco on 3rd February, 2012. Tarun Mascarenhas and Daniel Alvares of Class 8 participated and bagged the 3rd place.

 Bits Pilani also conducted a poster making competition. Kenneth D’silva of class 8 won the 2nd place.

In another event, organized by TERI at the Miramar Beach a sand carving competition was held on 3rd February,2012. Students of class 7 and 8 participated and won 3rd place for the same.

A beach trail along the coast of Miramar Beach was also held.

Julian D’costa and Sairaj Phaldessai of class 8 also participated in a Science and Mathemathics exhibition conducted by SCERT and won the 2nd place for their exhibit.

VVA bids Farewell to Class 10 of 2011

The end of January, and its once again time to wish the outgoing class at the end of their school life.Students of Class9  conducted the morning programme on 28th January 2012. A prayer service, games and spot prizes were enjoyed by the pupils and the highlight was Mast. Shorya Chaturvedi and Miss Candice Rodrigues being crowned Master and Miss VVA.

From party clothes to formal wear – what a transformation! Our boys looked dashing and debonair and our girls looked stunningly beautiful in their evening wear. Together with their parents they enjoyed the farewell and were warmly wished success in their every endeavor by the staff.

Mrs Fatima De Goveia Pinto spoke eloquently about Vidya Vikas Academy and the years her children spent here. Headboy McRalph Mendes and Headgirl Anjali De Maria Mascarenhas spoke emotionally and thanked the teachers and the school for the love and the school programme that have helped them during their school years. The staff – Archana Dias, Tanula Fernandes, Ayesha D’Souza and Neil D’Cruz wished the children with the song ‘The impossible dream’.

Manager of the school, Smt. Sheela Gaunekar and the Principal also spoke on the occasion. The class of 2011 has indeed been an absolutely wonderful group of students we at VVA will always be proud of and will always remember.

The Late Adv. Shri H.M.N Gaunekar Pre-Primary Talent Contests Held

The Late Adv. Shri. H. M. N. Gaunekar Pre-Primary Talent Contests were held on the 27th of January 2012 at the Kare Law College Hall. A singing contest was held for the Nursery Kids. The little ones were excited to go on the stage for the first time and sing enthusiastically.

The Jr. KG students were very happy to speak on the topic “I Love Goa”. The way they conveyed the feelings – they really are proud to be Goans. The highlight of the programme was the Quiz Competition for the Sr. KG students who expressed their ideas and observations. Dr. Deepa Correa Afonso was the Quiz Master.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the programme and was a grand success!

VVA students visit Zogati and Atreya Farm

Five students of Vidya Vikas Academy, accompanied by Tr. Shaefali Lendhay visited Zogati Nature Farm, Bhirondem, and Atreya Vedic Farm, Molem on 16th and 17th December respectively.

The field trips were organised by TERI and DEMPO as a part of the Climate Change Awareness Programme. 29 schools from South Goa participated in this programme. The students observed vermi-composting and apiculture, as well as extraction of latex from rubber trees. A quiz was also organised for the students. The winners won a t-shirt for themselves. Each student was also given a sapling of Lemon Grass.  The students enjoyed this wonderful trip and are looking forward for more. The field trips were informative and interesting for the students.

Road Safety Awareness Drive Held

Pupils of Class 5 of  Vidya Vikas Academy participated in a Road Safety Awareness Programme on Friday, 27th January 2012. Trafic Rules and Road Safety Guidelines were explained to the children and they made the mandatory, cautionary and information signboards which were placed along a route on the school campus grounds.

Pupils brought their cycles and rode through their route and were judged for their alertness, observarance of traffic signs and safe riding skills. Officers of the Margao Traffic Poilice were present with the Traffic Interceptor. They enlightened the children with different aspects of road safety including the importance of maintaining their bikes.

Fifteen safe and alert riders won prizes. The traffic Police Officer appreciated the school’s effort in having such a programme . Sports Director, Mr. Omanakuttan G. co-ordinated the programme.
