Children’s Day Celebrated at VVA

Vidya Vikas Academy celebrated Children’s Day on 14th November for classes 1 to 4 along with the pupils of the Pre-Primary and on 15th November for classes 5 to 10.

Great joy and exuberance among the children marked the occasion and the festive air filled their little hearts with delight.

The staff presented an enthralling programme commencing with a prayer service and a prayer song followed by an entertainment programme. The day was full of excitement for the kids as it was packed with a variety of entertainment, games, snacks, prizes and fun.

The children vied with one another to win the spot prizes and took home many a prize at the game stalls. Principal, Dr. A.M. Rodrigues addressed and wished the children on behalf of the Management and Staff.

Tr. Andrea D’Costa compered the programme while Nicole of Class 3 and Anjali of Class 10 proposed the vote of thanks.

Our pupils are our ‘raison d’être’ and our prayers and best wishes will always be with them, that they may grow to be caring, respectful, responsible and diligent individuals who will thus be truly happy and successful. May God Bless You Always!!!

Leadership Camp 2011- A Report

The students of Vidya Vikas Academy attended a two days Leadership Camp at Pekliewadi, Mollem Goa on 21st and 22nd October. Sixty students of classes 4 to 7 attended the camp.
On 21st morning the students assembled at 7:30a.m at school. and reached the camp site at 10:00a.m. The students were allotted rooms and they were put in different groups headed by a group leader and a group teacher. The students were given a light snack and later had a [Diwali] Diya painting activity.
They later assembled played Scavenger Hunt. After lunch they played a memory game. Two students won the prize. At 4:30p.m students were taken on the ground for outdoor games. But unfortunately it poured heavily and students were brought back to their rooms.
After the dinner, they had a brief camp fire. The next morning students were taken for a morning walk and later served with breakfast and tea. Later the following activities were held for the day:
a) Art and craft activity where in they made small magnetic souvenirs to stick on the fridge or cupboard.
b) They played treasure hunt, passing the hat and passing through the loop. The students enjoyed playing various group games along with the music. They won prizes.
c) After lunch they were given poster colours as parting gifts and were asked to write a camp report.
Students enjoyed their stay at the camp site and wanted the camping days to be extended in the coming years.
Tr. Shilpa and Tr. Shaefali were the co-ordinators for the camp.
An overnight leadership camp was also held at the school campus, for students of classes 2 and 3. The students assembled on 21st October at 7.00pm at the school grounds. A prayer service was conducted and the fun began with games. The students were served with scrumptious dinner later followed by the camp fire. The students performed a Spanish Dance and had a gala time for about an hour during the camp fire. Before they went to bed they were also served with milk and biscuits. The next morning began with a prayer service and the warm-up exercises, followed by various activities like art and craft, bhel making, sandwich making and a movie was shown to them on leadership qualities. After lunch, the students showcased their talents through dance and music. The children enjoyed the camp very much and wanted it to be extended by another day. In the evening the articles made by them were given as a token of remembrance of the activities they participated at the camp. Tr. Velia was the co-ordinator.

VVA Pupils celebrate Diwali.. Festival of Lights…

The Pre-Primary pupils of Vidya Vikas Academy celebrated Diwali with great joy and enthusiasm. The celebration and significance of the festival was explained and discussed with the children at a special assembly held at the school campus on 20th October to mark these festivities.

We, the Principal, Staff and Students at Vidya Vidya Vikas Academy wish you all a very happy and joyous DIWALI.

International Day for Older Persons Celebrated

Vidya Vikas Academy conducted a special assembly for classes 1 to 4 on 7th October to commemorate International Day for Older Persons. The significance of this day was read out. A skit show cased how apathetic the youth can be. This was followed by a prayer service especially for the Elders.
Our school decided, to celebrate this Day with grandparents of our students, from classes 1 to 4. The Principal Dr. Alan Rodrigues, send out special invites, inviting the paternal and maternal grandparents, of these students. The grandparents were overjoyed and gave an overwhelming response. Hence we celebrated, this special day for two consecutive days – October 10th and 11th. That evening the grandparents were welcomed by our Principal, refreshments like tea and snacks were also served.
The most emotional moment was to see, the grandchildren presenting, handmade cards and flowers. The grandchildren were happy to compere the acts in the show.
It began with a prayer song, later the entertainment programme like skit, dance, poems, mando, golden oldies in English, Portuguese and Konkani were performed. Some students shared their memorable moments. Some spot games were conducted and prizes were awarded. Our students learnt to have, genuine desire to respect and be compassionate towards their grandparents and all Elder’s. Tr. Betsy co-ordinated the programme.

Maths Quiz Held

Maths Quiz was held for classes 1 to 5 on the 17th October 2011 at the V.V.A Hall. The questions were based on the regular syllabus and each round consisted of many activities. There were three groups and each group had five students (one from each division). Group A won the first prize, while group B won the second.
