Goa Liberation Day was celebrated at Vidya Vikas Academy with gaiety and fervour.
Tr. Sharmila commenced the programme with a brief introduction. This was followed by the flag hoisting by the Principal and the singing of the National Anthem. Miss Shrida Talaulikar of Class 8 delivered a speech and spoke about our freedom fighters who made many sacrifices in their fight for freedom from Portuguese rule.
The students performed the foot tapping ’ Kotti Fugdi’ and presented a Goan folk dance -’ Musall Khell’ and enthralled the audience with melodious Konkani songs appreciating the beauty and culture of Goa.
A Konkani Monologue on “Konkani- Aamchi Maibhaas” was presented by Shrestha Gauns Dessai of Class 9, urging the audience to speak and preserve our mother tongue Konkani.Later our School Principal Mrs. Joble Bijoy distributed the prizes & certificates of Art, Science and Sports events to the student winners.
The program concluded with singing of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
