Vidya Vikas Academy observed Human Rights Day on 11th December 2023 to honour the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation of ‘the Universal Declaration of Human Rights’, on 10 December 1948.
The objective of the programme was to make the students aware about ‘The Universal Declaration of Human Rights’ and to sensitize them towards need to uphold them.
The students of class 9 organised a special assembly to commemorate the day. The entire programme was compered by Neomi D’Silva (9C) and Lynne Fernandes (9C). The programme began with a video about human rights. This was followed by a mime conveying the message that every individual deserves to live a life of dignity and a life that is worthy of a human being.
A poetry competition was previously conducted for the students of 9-10. Imaan Tonse (9B) was declared the winner. She read her poem ‘In The Name of Humanity’ on this occasion.
The students enjoyed the special assembly and at the same time understood their responsibility towards preserving human rights.
