Vidya Vikas Academy observed National Librarian’s Day on 12th August, 2021. To commemorate this occasion, a tribute was paid to Late Shri Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (Father of Library Science) followed by lighting of lamp by Principal Mrs Joble Bijoy along with Vice- Principals Mrs Tania Monteiro and Mrs Sheetal Kumar and the librarians Mrs. Archana Pednekar and Ms. Nutan Naik.
The following virtual sessions were conducted to instill the fervour for enhancing the reading & listening skills of the students.
Mrs. Archana Dias (a choir teacher and a creative artist) hosted the narration of story telling session for the students of Pre – Primary to Class 2.
Mr Gautham Nima (An educator,artist and a facilitator) held an online story telling session for the students of Classes 3 to 5.
Mrs Sneha Sabnis (Joint Secretary of Konkani Bhasha Mandal as well as a subject expert of Konkani Language, CBSE, Coe Pune) conducted a session for the Konkani students of Classes 6 to 8 on the topic ‘Enhancing Reading Skills in Children’.
Mrs Ninoschka Pinto (Teacher from Alliance Francaise Academy) conducted an online session for the French students of Classes 6 to 8 on the topic ‘Fun activities with French Grammar and Vocabulary’.
Mrs. Roxana Singh (English Professor of Carmel College) held an online webinar for the students of Class 9 on the topic ‘Tips to Inculcate Creative Writing Skills’.
Mr Anthony Gomes (Professor at Goa University ) held a webinar for Class 11 on the topics’ Best Sellers which teach life lessons and Improving vocabulary’.
For the students of Classes 10 and 12, an online quiz was conducted from the supplementary readers.
The sessions conducted by the resource persons were well attended by the students. They enjoyed and gained much knowledge from them. The parents too appreciated the efforts of the school in encouraging students to take greater interest in reading.
