World Ozone Day

‘World Ozone Day’ is observed on 16th September every year to spread awareness among people about the depletion of the ozone layer and find possible solutions to preserve it.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 16 September as the International day for the preservation of the ozone layer, commemorating the date of the signing of the Montreal Protocol (1987). The aim or purpose of the Montreal Protocol is to protect the ozone layer by reducing the production and consumption of substances that deplete the ozone layer.

A special  virtual assembly was conducted for the pupils of Class 1 to 5 on the 16th of September 2021.

The pupils were made aware of the importance of the Ozone layer, which protects the earth from the harmful Ultraviolet rays of the sun. They were briefed on five steps to follow in order to protect further depletion of the ozone layer.
