ATL Monthly Report

With the schools re-opening and the new academic year starting in June 2022, there was a sense of excitement among the students as well as teachers. As the education sector returned to normalcy after almost two years of online mode of studies, the ATL lab in Vidya Vikas Academy is ready to provide opportunities to students to innovate and be creative with their ideas.

With students returning to the school after a month of summer vacation, it was necessary to provide a recap of the topics covered in the month of April. For class 9 and 10, an activity was conducted in which students were told to create an Info-graphic on the topic “Applications of AI in Different Domains”. The activity helped the students to refresh their learning from the month of April as well as learn an important aspect of digital content creation. Digital content creation is one of the most important skills in today’s digital world. With this activity, the students were able to make an Info-graphic using Canva and learn the tools and features of the website. After the recap of the topic, students were guided to use these machine learning concepts and design an interactive “ Rock Paper Scissor “ game. The platform used for making the game was ‘Machine Learning for Kids’ along with ‘Scratch Programming’.

For learning coding or programming, the first step is to understand the logic and flow of any process. Class 7 students were taught to write algorithms and draw the flowcharts for the respective algorithms. Students were able to  write the algorithms for general processes as well as mathematical problems.

Class 8 students were provided an insight into the working of sensors and how they affect the new “World of Internet” that we live in. Students were introduced to different types of MQ sensors (Gas sensors) and what are the applications of these sensors.
