World Ozone Day

‘ World Ozone Day’, is observed on 16th September every year, to spread awareness among the people about the depletion of the ozone layer and find possible solutions to preserve it.The theme for this year 2022, World Ozone Day is ‘Global Cooperation Protecting life on Earth’.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 16 September as the International day for the preservation of the ozone layer, commemorating the date of the signing of the Montreal Protocol (1987). The aim or purpose of the Montreal Protocol is to protect the ozone layer by reducing the production and consumption of substances that deplete the ozone layer.

A special assembly was conducted for the pupils of Class 7 ABC on 16th of September 2022.

The assembly began with a brief introduction of the Ozone Layer. The pupils were made aware of the importance of the Ozone Layer, which protects the earth from the harmful Ultraviolet rays of the sun, the cause of Ozone depletion and the preventive measures to protect the ozone layer. The assembly included various programme such as, recitation of a poem signifying the importance of Ozone, a song was sung to make us aware of the harmful effects of Ozone and slogans were displayed on the charts. The assembly concluded with a short quiz followed by the Pledge to protect the mother earth, save ourselves and protect and conserve natural resources for the future generations.
