Army Day is celebrated in memory of the gallant spirit of Kodandera Madappa Cariappa, the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of independent India , who succeeded the last British Commander, Sir Francis Bucher. K.M. Cariappa blazed a trail in the Indian Armed Forces, with his unrelenting patriotism. He is a man known for many firsts, but he is best remembered as the legend, who made the Indian army, truly Indian.
A special assembly was conducted by the NCC cadets for Classes 7 ABC under the guidance of Second Officer, Mr. Sidharth Fal Dessai. The special assembly highlighted the lives of Indian soldiers, who sacrifice everything for us, fighting against the enemy under severe weather conditions and rough terrains, in order to protect the citizens of our country. The assembly began with a prayer service, followed by a speech, a patriotic dance, a skit, a quiz and a video on the life of an Indian Soldier . The programme provided the students with an insight into a soldier’s life. We at V.V.A.salute, honour and appreciate these brave men, who lay down their lives to protect us.
