Vidya Vikas Academy observed World Book Day on 24th April 2023 to celebrate books and reading. It is an annual event worldwide, organised by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and copyright.
On this occasion, special assembly was organised by the students of class 9 to highlight the importance of the day. Miss Winziah Pereira began the assembly by explaining the importance of the day. Master Richie D’souza administered a Reader’s Oath. Anvi Purohit, Siya Nayak, Sarah D’ Souza, Jaden Fernandes and Jagrit Jain read some famous quotes on books and reading. The audience was mesmerized by the song “World Book Day” presented by Sanaida Moraes , Alosha Fernandes, Rizaane Dias, Lynne Fernandes, Daniel Coutinho, Khushi Dalvi, Eva Mathias and Chiara Da Costa.
The highlight of the day was a talk by Mrs. Renu Bundela on ‘Value of Books’. In this interactive session, she explained the benefits of reading and urged the students to pick up a book to read.
The entire programme was compered by Miss Neomi D’Silva and Vote of Thanks was expressed by Tr. Sanjyot Bhembre.
Thereafter, a book exhibition was held in the School Library showcasing books on fiction which was open for the students and the staff. The charts made by Miss Lyanna Almeida, Siya Nayak, Imaan Tonse and Neomi D’Silva on the theme of World Book Day were also displayed.
Students also expressed their opinions about their Favourite book /author on the charts displayed in the School Library.
Overall, it was an engrossing and enriching experience for the students who participated enthusiastically.
