Vijayadashami, commonly known as Dussehra, is one of India’s widely celebrated festivals observed at the end of Navratri. Going by the Hindu calendar this day falls in the month of Ashwin, which as per the English calendar are the months of September and October.
All through India, Dussehra is observed for varied reasons and even celebrated in several manners. Dussehra is all about Rama’s victory over the demon Ravana, or alternatively it marks a respect and regard for one of the aspects of Durga or Saraswati. The festival also starts the preparation of India’s most widely celebrated festival Diwali, which is celebrated twenty days after Dussehra.
This year the festival was celebrated on the 15th of October 2021. A virtual assembly was uploaded for classes 1 to 5, in order to highlight the significance of this festival. Animated videos were shown to the students to know the story behind the Dussehra festival.
