Goa Revolution Day

Vidya Vikas Academy observed Goa Revolution Day on 20th June 2023 to pay tribute to the martyrs of Goa’s freedom struggle. This day has a special significance for the people of Goa. It was on this day in the year 1946, the suppressed patriotic feelings of Goans had manifested in to a mass revolution.

The students of class 9 organised a special assembly to commemorate the day. The entire programme was compered by Ananya Naik (9A) and Schenaida Soares (9B). The programme began with a Konkani patriotic song. This was followed by a skit which demonstrated what happened on 18th June 1946. The highlight of the programme was Goan Divli Folk Dance.

A poetry competition was previously conducted for the students of 8-10. Schenaida Soares (9B) was declared the winner. She read her poem ‘Goa of My Dreams’ on this occasion.

Vote of Thanks was expressed by Tr. Sanjyot Bhembre.

The objective was to make the students aware about the events of the day and to appreciate the contribution of the revolutionaries. The programme conveyed the message that we must value the freedom we enjoy and feel proud of  Goan culture and heritage.
