Vidya Vikas Academy’s Senior Secondary Section observed the 74th Martyrs Day on 30th January, 2022 to honour the martyrs of our motherland. Annually, this day mourns the assassination of our Father of the Nation- Mahatma Gandhi. After India got its freedom, enraged Nathuram Godse assassinated Gandhi stating that he was responsible for India-Pakistan partition which led to loss of thousands of lives. India is among fifteen countries in the world that commemorates Martyrs Day annually to pay homage to the freedom fighters, and this day is also known as, Shaheed Diwas. It unites people of different castes and religions in the country.
To create awareness about the same, a video was prepared to make students understand and realise the struggles and sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. The video was also a reminder not to take our own freedoms lightly because if these heroes didn’t fight so tirelessly then, there would be no way anyone could ever achieve anything significant without being willing to make great sacrifices first. The assembly video evoked the patriotic spirit and infused a sense of pride within the students for our country.
