National Handloom Day is observed across India on August 7 every year. The primary goal of celebrating Handloom Day is observed not only to preserve the rich heritage of our country but also to promote handloom textiles and to recognise the efforts as well as skills of the community of weavers engaged in this sector.
A special assembly was conducted by the students of class 5 and 8 to observe the National Handloom Day at VVA. A speech on the said topic highlighted the significance and the heritage of handloom in India. An array of vibrant textiles such as bhandani, kanjeevaram sarees, paithini sarees and khadi were displayed. Teacher Merexi D’Silva interacted with the students and conducted a quiz to enhance the knowledge of students about National Handloom Day.
