Vidya Vikas Academy observed National Librarian’s Day on 18th August, 2021. To commemorate this occasion, a tribute was paid to Late Shri Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (Father of Library Science) followed by lighting of lamp by Principal Mrs Joble Bijoy along with Vice- Principals Mrs Tania Monteiro and Mrs Sheetal Kumar and the librarians Mrs. Archana Pednekar and Ms. Nutan Naik.
Class 4A students participated in the formal programme. After the introduction, students took a pledge and read motivational quotes. This was followed by the inauguration of Book Exhibition at the hands of the Principal. Students and Staff enjoyed the literary classics on display.
On the occasion of National Librarian’s Day, several resource persons were invited.
The following sessions were conducted on 18th & 19th August to enhance reading & listening skills of the students.
Mrs. Archana Dias (a choir teacher and a creative artist) hosted a story telling session for the students of Pre – Primary Section.
Mr Leonard Fernandes (Co-founder of Dogears bookshop)conducted session on how to develop reading for students of class 1 and 2
Mr Gautham Nima (An educator, artist and a facilitator) held a story telling session for the students of Classes 3 to 5.
Professor Priya Almeida (Edupreneur/writer, Poet, Counsellor and life and Language coach) conducted a Book Talk for the students of Classes 9 and 10.
Professor Twiggie Fernandes (Teaching in Kare college of Law) conducted a session on ‘Why is Reading Important’ for the students of Classes 11 and 12.
For the students of classes 6,7 and 8, a Book quiz was conducted.
The sessions conducted by the resource persons were attended enthusiastically by the students. They enjoyed and gained much knowledge from them.
