In the words of Louis Zamperini, “That’s one thing you learn in sports. You don’t give up, you fight to the finish.”
In recognition of the importance of sports in one’s life, Vidya Vikas Academy celebrated National Sports Day (Rashtriya Khel Divas) with great zeal. National Sports Day is celebrated every year on 29 August in India as a tribute to our country’s pride, the Hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand.
The program started with a special assembly in which the Sports Director addressed the students and briefed them about this very special day in the Indian sports fraternity. A student delivered a speech on aspiring the students to choose sports, thus highlighting the glory and its benefits. A powerpoint presentation was projected which accentuated information of the National Sports Day. Students also participated in showcasing their talent by enacting famous sports personalities like Mary Kom, P.V. Sindhu, Neeraj Chopra, etc. Our Vice-Principal, Mrs. Tania Monteiro also shared her views on this occasion and motivated the students about the importance of sports in our lives.
The program ended with a session on ball and clubs juggling for the students by Mr. Wendell Gray, (international juggler and India’s Got Talent fame, founder of the Wenjugglers Academy). The audience was flabbergasted with the performance.
