The Festival of Onam, which originated in the state of Kerala, is a yearly celebration that ushers in the harvest season and signals the end of the rainy season throughout India. It also commemorates Mahabali, the fabled king, returning home. The festival lasts for ten days. Onam celebrations are known for their exquisitely decorated ‘Pookalams’, enormous spreads of mouth-watering Onam Sadya, dazzling snake boat races, and unique dance performances.
On August 25, 2023, the Pre-Primary division of Vidya Vikas Academy observed the Onam festival.
Students from Senior Kindergarten skillfully depicted the significance of this occasion through dance performances and enactments.The girls of Sr Kg A/B created a Pookalam that incorporated the festive appearance of Onam.The Sr Kg A/B boys participated in the snake boat race with enthusiasm.Students and faculty members brightened the campus with their vibrant ethnic clothes and traditional attire of Kerala.
