Books are more than simple pieces of paper. They offer a window into different worlds and perspectives, whether through imaginative fiction or informative non-fiction. They broaden our minds, inspire our imaginations, and connect us to the world and each other. World Book Day is celebrated annually on April 23rd to recognize the power of books and the joy of reading. On this day, we celebrate the importance of books and encourage everyone to pick up a book, explore a new topic, or lose themselves in a captivating story.
The Senior Secondary students conducted a special assembly on 28th April 2023 to celebrate this day, with a focus on the theme of indigenous languages. The students enacted a conversation act where they took on the roles of famous authors like William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and J.K. Rowling. A quiz was held to test the students’ knowledge of books and characters. Towards the end, medals and certificates were awarded to the participants of the Shakespeare Fest. The assembly was a celebration of the power of books.
