On March 13th, the Science and Technology Committee organized an introductory session for students of classes 7, 8, and 9. The session was conducted by Mr. Gaurav Dhumatkar, a representative from Friends of Astronomy Association.
Mr. Dhumatkar started the session through a presentation on the history and origins of astronomy. He explained how humans have been fascinated by the stars and planets since ancient times, and how our understanding of the universe has evolved over the centuries. He then went on to discuss the basics of telescopes, including how they work and how they have helped us to explore and discover more about the universe. After the presentation, Mr. Dhumatkar showed the students Venus and the Orion Nebula through a telescope. The students were amazed to see the close view of the celestial objects and were eager to learn about them.
Overall, the session was a great opportunity for the students to learn more about astronomy and to develop an interest in science and technology. The Science and Technology Committee hopes to organize more such events in the future to inspire and engage students in STEAM fields.
