Vidya Vikas Academy students embarked on a visit to Axis Bank. The visit was organized as part of the “Smart Schooling” initiative in collaboration with Axis Bank, located opposite BPS Sports Club, Margao. The session was on banking for students of Class 9 & 8.It was organized for two days. The students of class 9 were taken on 7th July & Class 8th on 14th July between 4:00pm to 5:30pm. 21 students from class 9 and 17 students from class 8 attended the session. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical knowledge about banking operations, various services offered by Axis Bank, and the significance of financial literacy.
The students were given a warm welcome by the bank staff and were seated comfortably in the bank. Mrs. Gracy Da Cunha ( Branch head) gave students an insight about the functioning of the bank. She emphasized why saving was important and that even students can open their own bank account under parent’s guidance. She explained students the two methods of enchasing the saved amount from the bank, i.e. via using DD and Cheque. She also explained the difference between a Bearer Cheque and Crossed Cheque.
Mr. Rayes Efthies (Vice-President) briefed students about other means of saving money that is through investing in mutual funds, stocks and life insurance.
Later students were given a short tour of the bank where they were shown cash depositing as well as ATM machine. They had the opportunity to explore various sections of the bank, including Burgundy Private segment. They were able to witness the specialized services provided to high-net-worth individuals, which prioritize personalized banking experiences. Students were given a folder with relevant information and were sent home with snack boxes which were especially ordered for them. It was an enriching session for the students.
