World Biofuel Day is celebrated annually on August 10 to highlight the importance of biofuels, which are produced from animal waste, algae, and industrial and agricultural waste. Biofuels, unlike fossil fuels, are produced in a short amount of time and are liquid or gaseous. They are environmentally friendly, sustainable, renewable and biodegradable.
A special assembly was conducted for the students of classes 6 to 10 on August the 11th, 2022. The assembly was a platform to raise awareness about non-fossil fuels. It also focused on the knowledge of the government’s efforts in developing and strengthening the biofuel sector in the country. The assembly began with an introduction, followed by the song sung by the students of class 7th relating to the importance of trees and plants . The assembly also included a short speech, a video, a quiz, and a slogan. A monologue honouring the research experiments by Sir Rudolf Diesel was also presented.
The assembly aroused the importance of biofuels in our lives. The students expressed their ways to reduce their consumption of fossil fuels. After the assembly, a class activity was conducted for the students from classes 6 to 10. Students were asked to prepare a class-wise poster to raise awareness.
