International Day for the Elderly is celebrated on October 1st every year. The day is celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of senior citizens in our society, to make certain the benefits of elder persons in our lives.
The aim of the assembly was to make the students understand and realize the importance of having elders in our lives and to appreciate, acknowledge the contributions of the elders in our society. Senior citizens carry the traditions, culture of the society and pass on the knowledge to the younger generation. They also carry a lot of responsibility on their shoulders as leaders of the society. Vidya Vikas Academy celebrated the World Elder’s Day on the 7th of October, 2023 in the assembly area. Some elderly people were invited from the community for the special assembly. They were welcomed by pinning welcome badges. The assembly was marked by the lighting of the lamp, followed by a wonderful performance from the students. Later the elders were served refreshments and were gifted a small token of love. Some of the senior citizens shared with the students their experiences and gave some words of wisdom.
Recognizing and honoring the wisdom and contributions of these citizens is crucial for fostering a strong and interconnected society. Such initiatives help instill respect and appreciation for the elderly among younger generations.
