World Nature Conservation Day 2022

‘Nature is painting for us day after day the pictures of infinite beauty.’

-John Ruskin

Nature is constantly undergoing enormous changes at every point of time and these changes alter the environment substantially. It is therefore necessary to put a halt to any further destruction of nature and indulge ourselves in activities which will preserve our environment. To increase awareness about the issues faced by our planet and to draw attention to its ever-growing concerns, a special assembly on World Nature Conservation Day was held on 28th July 2022 by the students of the Senior Secondary section.  The theme of World Nature Conservation Day this year is “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet”.

One of the primary focuses of the World Nature Conservation Day is saving plants and animals that are threatened with extinction. A video was screened during the assembly which called attention to the great importance of conserving different species and help sustaining life on our planet. A few quotes highlighting the need to carry on progress by holding the hand of nature were read out by students. A mime performance then captivated the attention of everyone as the message of conserving nature and its resources was conveyed through it beautifully. The mime was followed by a quiz. There was an appeal made to the audience to put in efforts towards nature conservation by following appropriate steps in this regard. The assembly was ended with a quote by Barack Obama – “We are the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it”.
