Herbal Garden -Blog- 2024-25
Launched in 2016, the concept of a School Herbal Garden has blossomed into a vibrant space dedicated to nurturing both plants and young minds. A diverse array of herbal species—including Noni, Pimpli, Dhoop Tulsi, Manpatri, Lemon Grass, Krishnavasa, Hadjod, Shatavari, Aloe Vera, Kirayte, Insulin Plant and Brahmi—are lovingly cultivated within this green sanctuary.
This initiative is more than just gardening; it's a hands-on learning experience aimed at enriching students with the knowledge of commonly used herbal plants and their benefits. The garden serves as a natural classroom where students not only learn about the healing properties and uses of these herbs but also develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world around them.
The school has consistently prioritized the maintenance and development of this herbal haven to raise awareness about the sustainable use of biodiversity resources—especially medicinal plants. More than just a garden, it is a space that bridges tradition with learning—keeping alive ancient knowledge while promoting sustainable practices. In an age where herbal remedies are increasingly in demand, the cultural narratives and practices tied to them are fading. The school herbal garden seeks to rekindle that heritage and make it part of everyday learning.
Through consistent care and dedicated effort, the school continues to champion the cause of biodiversity conservation, especially in relation to medicinal plants. It’s a simple yet powerful initiative—nurturing not only plants, but also curiosity, awareness and responsibility in young minds.
Let us continue to grow and celebrate our own little patch of green—a garden that teaches, heals, and inspires.
